I’m not a lawyer. Nor am a Constitutional historian. And I’m lightyears away from being a Supreme Court Justice. What I have, at best, is an understanding of how our government is supposed to work that I was taught in high school – a long, long time ago, figuratively speaking, in a galaxy (Annapolis Senior High) far, far away.

Sometimes it’s the little things that are the most telling.
As you may have already heard, President Trump has “ruled” – and I mean that literally – that Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Juneteenth will no longer be fee-free days at our national parks. In their place, he has added Flag Day (June 14) to the list which just happens to be his birthday.

Never one to forego an opportunity to be nasty, here, below in italics, is what President Trump had to say today when Nancy Pelosi announced her retirement.
“I’m glad she’s retiring,” Trump said as he took reporter questions in the Oval Office during a news conference on reducing the cost of weight loss drugs for Americans. “I think she did the country a great service by retiring,” Trump continued. “I think she was a tremendous liability for the country. I thought she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation.”
What an awful person – referring to the President, of course. He’s been diagnosed as having malignant narcissism. Is this what we’re seeing? Does he need to make other people small to make himself larger by comparison?

President Trump – whose intellect is handicapped by malignant narcissism – lacks the intelligence to understand many of the basic, most critical principles and behavior of our economy, political system, science and technology, culture and international relationships. Making matters worse, he surrounds himself with advisors who are unable or unwilling to explain the truth that he needs to know and who support his belief that he is the smartest person in the room which he is not.

Hardly a day has gone by since Donald Trump was first elected when I haven’t heard some pundit explaining why. How is it possible that a majority of American voters have elected an ethically challenged person suffering, according to experts, from “malignant narcissism” – hence his proclivity for authoritarianism and complete disregard for law and order – a person as dumb as he is nuts, President?

Trump has raised tariffs on Chinese goods, again, by 100%. He’s doubling the cost of imports from China – already higher by virtue of earlier tariffs – because he feels the need to punish the Chinese, to prove he’s more powerful than their leader. Why he’s upset isn’t important and doesn’t have to make any sense. Suffice it to say that our President a petulant creature with the emotional maturity of four year old. …A four year old who is Commander-in-Chief of our military with the keys to our nuclear arsenal.

For the record, I want the Gaza war to be over as soon as possible. After the October 7 attack, Israel had every right to go to war against Hamas, but not the people of Gaza, the vast majority of which are innocents. Israel has killed over 67,000 Palestinians in its effort to eliminate a relative handful of terrorists. And we’re the ones who have provided most of the weapons and bombs used to accomplish this slaughter – leveling the place and trashing the Gazan economy in the process.

Other than as an act of performance politics – because Trump and his gang of meanies believe that their supporters like it when they blow things up – why does the President keep destroying Venezuelan cartel drug boats instead of following them to port and tracking where the drugs, if there are any, go? And then eventually shutting down their entire network?
Where are the videos of our Navy picking up debris from these explosions? Maybe there isn’t anything left worth the effort.

So, Trump is now saying that the Musk email demanding government employees tell him what they did last week – or they’ll be assumed to have resigned – is only voluntary. I believe “Just kidding,” were President Trump’s exact words.
Okay, now that it’s the end of the free trial of Donald Trump’s presidency, on behalf of all Americans – as well as other members of NATO, people of Ukraine, et al – I would like to unsubscribe and give Kamala Harris a chance.

President Trump is, as of this writing, on the verge of giving private citizen Elon Musk access to everyone’s IRS file, yours included. He says he’s doing this for reasons related to improving the efficiency of the IRS, but has stopped well short of telling what, precisely, those reasons might be.
