According to various sources, President Trump has taken $5 million from funds allocated by Congress for our national parks to gild selected bronze statues of horses in the District with real gold leaf.  He’s not just painting them gold color, you know, with exterior grade Behr paint from Home Depot which sells, top of the line, for a breathtaking $70 a gallon.  No.  He’s covering them with real 24 carat gold.

For example, see the featured image above which was published yesterday in the May 29th edition of People Magazine.  Those horses are at the Arlington Memorial Bridge near the Lincoln Memorial.

Is this the most popularly beneficial, egalitarian application of these $5 million?  I don’t think so.  Is this how Congress expected the funds to be used for our national parks?  Not likely.  Is it a tad tacky and certainly tone deaf given how so many American families are struggling to put food on their kitchen tables and gas in their tanks?  I’ll leave it to you to decide.

That said, I’m nonetheless inspired by the artfulness of it all.

And so, in the spirit of coating things to make us all feel better, I’d like to recommend that Congress, when the Democrats take over next January, cover the President himself with tar, which is much less expensive than gold leaf, and maybe some feathers – figuratively speaking of course – when they impeach him and then the courts subsequently convict him of the kuh-billions of dollars of grand theft government in which he is actively engaged.
