As you may have already heard, Senator Harry Reid told the Huffington Post the other day that an unnamed Bain Capital investor told him that Mitt Romney has not paid taxes for 10 years. That, according to Senator Reid, is why Mr. Romney doesn’t want to release his tax returns prior to 2010. Mr. Romney has vehemently denied the story and has challenged Senator Reid today, in no uncertain terms, to “put up,” the name of the informant, “or shut up.”
I don’t know whether or not Senator Reid is making up the story in a silly attempt to goad Mr. Romney into releasing prior returns – for President Obama’s campaign to use in its desperate attempt to distract voters from the poor performance of his recovery programs and other shortcomings of his presidency.
What I do know, for sure, is that unnamed, but nonetheless credible sources have told me that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is an idiot, and that he is, personally, a major reason why Congress is so dysfunctional. According to these same sources, he’s an embarrassment to the people of Nevada who re-elected him and the poster child for Congressional term-limitations.
I’ll release the identities of my sources, when Senator Reid releases his.
P.S. A technical note for writers who read my blog: For the record, I struggled in writing this between the use of “idiot” or “jerk,” but felt that the latter would be an insult to jerks everywhere, which, let’s be honest, we’ve all been, myself included, at one time or another.
