A few minutes ago, we got around to reading the following tweet from the Mayor, shown below.
Very impressive? Not really.
“Baltimore is a city in crisis,” as our lead widget on the right will tell you. After decades of excessive unemployment, poverty and crime, we’re in serious trouble. “Deep doody” would not be the least bit overstated. And yet the Mayor takes considerable pride in her administration’s efforts with respect to public employee retirement prep. From the perspective of the tens of thousands and thousands of Baltimore’s families struggling every day to get by, it’s not much of a legacy.
We know the Mayor isn’t running for re-election, but she should still demonstrate at least the pretense of empathy.
Congratulations, but wouldn’t we all rather see her brandishing awards for having reduced unemployment, poverty, crime and the property tax rate?
